The Ottawa Rape Crisis Cetnre (ORCC) is a proactive, anti-racist, feminist organization working to end all form of sexual violence. We counsel and support women, educate for change and work to create a safe and equitable community.
The ORCC runs a 24 hour crisis line for women survivors of all froms of sexual violence who need immediate support.Volunteer crisis line counsellors respond to calls and provide accompaniment to the hospital or police, where neccessary. The Centre offers individual short and long term counselling and group therapy sessions on a variety of themes. The Centre provides public education to universities, public schools, community colleges, community agencies and professionals in the criminal justice system. The Centre also works with women at the Ottawa Carleton Detention Centre and has done so for over fifteen years. In addition, the Centre runs a number of projects, this includes Girls Chat, a highly successful project run in five high schools in the city; safecity website, an interactive website specifically for youth; and Kids on the Block, where public educators use pupperty to raise awareness about sexual violence.
